Firstly, my apologies to all my followers for not updating for more than 2 weeks. Have been busy with work as well as kids exams and of cause school holidays. As a parent, we have to entertain and keep them busy during their holidays.
As usual I faithfully consume Olivenol Livin twice a day without fail. So far, not much of progress that I observe. However, last 2 days, I discover some rashes on my legs. At first thought, I suspect it could be the outbreak of P but with further inspection and observation, it doesn’t seems to be like it. The rashes weren’t itchy nor pain but the next day I can see that it’s spreading with minor burning sensation and shaping lines of rashes. Since it’s not P, what could it be???
One of my friends who saw these rashes on my legs suggested that it could be what the Chinese believe as “growing snake” (Herpes Zoster) and urged me to get treatment as soon as possible. It was widely believed among Chinese that the “growing snake” could kill a person when the rashes form a circle especially around the waist or neck.
Without further doubts, he took me to see a Chinese physician who known as “The King of Snake” well know for curing the disease. At one look he confirmed that it was “growing snake” and started the treatment. The treatment is basically some prayers that he performed on the rashes. There are few things to be avoided. No wetting the rashes as water will increase it spread. I was also advised to stay away from poisonous food like chicken, eggs and seafood. I was advised to see him continuously for five days for the treatment. In addition to the treatment, I was prescribed to take 2 capsules of “yoong tam” (Chinese herbs) twice daily to cool my body heat. According to the doc, this would take 2 days for the rashes to dry up and start healing.
Yesterday was my second treatment. It was just prayers that he performed therefore I don’t really feel pain nor itchiness but somehow I developed fever at night, feeling really chilled and tired maybe I caught cold. I took some Chinese herbal tea and went to bed but after 2 hours the fever is still quite high so I took fever medicine that my doctor prescribed the last time I visited him.
After taking the medicine, my fever came down slowly and I could fall asleep. Yesterday weather was really windy just like wind storm that awaken me around 2am.
This morning I woke up around 7am, my fever have gone down but I still feel a little tired maybe I didn’t sleep well yesterday due to the storm.
What about those rashes my on my legs? I see some blisters on the rashes. I will update on the effectiveness of the “treatment” in the upcoming post. Stay tune…

HZ is a viral infection similar to chicken pox (or rather CP is a form of HZ). It could be from a new infection or a latent one that finally manifest.
ReplyDeleteTreatment at the early stage is the use of anti-viral drug. It usually subsides between 2-4 weeks. Do keep an eye on it. Take care not to let someone else handle the blister phase. It may trigger chicken pox on those who are not immune.
Keep us informed.
Yeah, i found out that it was caused by the same virus as chicken pox and stress may be it's trigger. As for me, i would say stress and weak immune system could have been the trigger for HZ but why? I've been taking OL for quite some time now, should it be beginning to "treat" my immune system? or could this be one of the sign of OL effect of "treating" my immune system?
ReplyDeleteWe do not have all the answers yet. Part of the reason for this project is to gather more insight and information.
ReplyDeleteLet's review your past 2 weeks. You had been extremely busy at work and kids had exams coming up. All these affected your ability to maintain your blog. Clearly priorities changed in the past 2 weeks. Your mind was preoccupied with new events that triggered higher level of oxidative stress.
What about sleep? Were you able to keep regular sleep hours?
